A dashboard with a calm figure and a dashboard that has quietly stalled look exactly the same. If you base a market choice, a budget or a positioning on those figures, reliable data gets you further than polished data. In other words: figures you know the freshness of, with a clear signal when something is missing or could not be calculated. At GripIQ, that is a principle: we would rather show that a figure isn't there yet than a blank or calm screen that suggests otherwise. Where do you see that in the platform?
First question: how fresh is what you see?
On the overviews of Prompts, Keywords and Socials, there is a short line next to the data: Data from, followed by a time, and next scan, with the moment the next scan runs. So you don't need to dig through the settings to know whether you are looking at today or last week.
That may seem like a detail, but it answers the question everyone reading figures asks: can I still use this? A Share of Voice from last week is fine for a monthly overview, but not for a decision being made today. With the date next to it, you make that call yourself.
An empty screen is not the same as zero
An empty screen can mean two things: nothing was found, or nobody has looked yet. GripIQ keeps the two apart.
- A new project or channel. As long as no scan has completed, you see the message "First scan in progress", with the moment the results are expected, instead of a row of zeros. The freshness line then reads "Waiting for first scan".
- A new Keyword. If there is no completed scan for a Keyword yet, it says your position will appear after the next scan. If a scan is already running, you read that the results will appear within a few minutes.
- A Share of Voice that can't be calculated. If your Share of Voice is zero while Prompts are running, the Dashboard shows a warning with the reason. Either no AI answers have been collected yet, or the current Prompts don't mention your brand and ask too little specifically about brands. Those are two very different situations, each calling for a different action.
If something doesn't load, the platform says so
Sometimes external sources or connections falter. We don't hide that behind an empty box. If an answer or a list of posts can't be loaded, you read that ("This answer could not be loaded. Please try again."), and you can try again. The same goes for a website change that won't open.
The assistant, too, is honest about where things stand. If your project's daily limit has been reached, it tells you it will be available again tomorrow. If too many questions come in at once, it asks you to wait a moment. And if a conversation gets too long, it suggests starting a new one. So you never get a silent answer that makes no sense.
That doesn't mean we promise nothing will ever go wrong. A platform that consults external sources can falter. What we do make sure of is that you never have to guess what is going on.
What reliable data means when you decide on figures
When you choose a market, a country or a positioning, that choice rests on the figures in front of you. Two things then help you more than a polished presentation:
- knowing how fresh a figure is, so you can judge whether it still holds;
- knowing whether a missing value is really missing or still waiting for a scan, and that it is not a silent error.
A system that shows its gaps can be a little less convenient to work with than one that hides them. But you can trust it a great deal more.
What you can do now
- Check the line with the time of the last and next scan on every overview, before you put a figure in a report or presentation.
- If you see an empty screen or a warning on the Dashboard, read the reason first before you change anything.
- For every dashboard, including those outside GripIQ, ask what you get to see when the data doesn't come in: a message, or a figure that looks calm.
